12th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards Nominees

Announced today, SoulWorker: Anime Legends will strive to bring that same level of anime MMO action to mobile devices later this month, as Gameforge and Aprogen Games spearhead the leap to both iOS and Android. Nintendo, partnered with DeNA, was widely rumored to have had a Legend of Zelda mobile title in the works back in 2017. The same rumor spread the belief that it would release following Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp . Well, Animal Crossing 's mobile release passed with no sign of Zelda in the wake. The new map is Olympus, an abandoned floating city high above the Outlands planet of Psamathe. Respawn Entertainment has been teasing the map for some time, mostly through appearances in trailers for previous seasons, loading screen text, and the Broken Ghost quest. As a once-wealthy and opulent floating city, Olympus has retained much of its shine even after being abandoned. The entire map has a sculptured, geometric beauty to it, a far cry from the functional, rough-edged architecture of World's Edge. Yet, in their bid to be in the hands of as many players as possible, EA may stretch their new property too far. It doesn’t take a genius to recognize that the mobile versions of both of the previously mentioned battle royale giants are relatively sub-par when compared to their console counterparts, and rushing such an ambitious port to market may be detrimental to the title’s overall qual


The push that Nintendo is making with mobile titles and their flourishing partnership with mobile port providers, DeNA, are promising signs that fans will see a Legend of Zelda mobile title at some point in the future. How far into the future still remains uncertain, but with the focus being put on craze-worthy franchises such as Pokémon and Super Mario, The Zelda franchise fits rights in. Who knows, fingers crossed for a Zelda title in 2020's mobile line


At the same time, Nintendo's and DeNA's active partnership is a promising sign fans might eventually see some form of a Zelda __ game make its way to mobile platforms. To date, DeNA has helped Nintendo produce six mobile titles since 2016. This includes Super Mario Run , Fire Emblem Heroes , Mario Kart Tour , and Pokémon Masters . While it isn't the most well-known MMO property - that's still reserved for giants like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV - SoulWorker has been making a name for itself over the years as a quality anime MMO experience that offers several different selling points that help differentiate it from the rest.
